JOZI'S MELODY sold for $55,000 as a yearling, then was purchased for $155,000 in March after working a furlong in a bullet 10.40. The dam won her only start at two, and three of her juvenile runners reached the winner's circle including debut and multiple stakes-winner Lambana (177K in earnings). The dam is also a half-sister to Grade 3 and juvenile debut winner Al's Helen as well as the fleet Grade 2 winner Straight Man. Trainer Robert Bailes shows a flat-bet profit ($2.26 ROI) over the past five years with juvenile firsters. Make sure you demand value as the Storm Cat line doesn't usually cross well with broodmares from the Majestic Prince branch. LOVES TO DANCE projects as the betting favorite after finishing ten lengths clear of the third-place finisher last time out. A repeat of that 64 Beyer would make her tough to beat, but she blew a clear lead that day, and has yet to gain ground from the stretch call to the wire. MARIAS GOLDEN ROSE showed improvement last time out, and has valuable experience at this one-turn mile. She must overcome the inside post, but could work out a nice inside-out stalking trip. GLOWING SEA adds blinkers, and makes the turf-to-dirt move for excellent barn. She shouldn't be too far off the lead. DIXIEMINT didn't have the easiest journey when finishing behind a runaway winner in first start off the layoff. Perhaps she'll respond better to rating tactics.

The selection: Jozi's Melody to Win and Place (5-1 odds or more)
