Hoosier Park track report

Roberto Villafan may have lost his lead in the rider standings after serving a five-day suspension, but he made a strong return Sunday night, winning 4 of the first 8 races on the card.

Villafan scored aboard Buzz Cat ($4.60) in the second, Musicdemi ($10.60) in the fourth, Blackberry Sizzle ($3.80) in the fifth, and Foxy Knickers ($3.80) in the eighth to post his second four-bagger of the meet. Rodney Prescott, who scored his second four-win day of the meet last Wednesday, leads the standings, 46-39, over Villafan.

The sale of Hoosier Park's simulcast signal to outlets around the country continues to do well this year. Handle on last Friday's card was over $2 million, the fourth time the track has reached that level this meet after reaching the mark just twice last year.

* Ted Nugent will be a featured guest Saturday, when Hoosier offers its "Salute to Sportsmen" night at the races. There will be a drawing for a trip to hunt Nugent's ranch in Michigan, plus other outdoor themed events throughout the evening. Nugent will be available to sign autographs early in the evening.

* A new track record was set Oct. 12, when Stay Forever Young covered the rarely offered distance of 1 1/8 miles in 1:51.86 for trainer Jeff Raley. Ridden by Hector Rosario Jr., Stay Forever Young ($20.80) lowered the previous mark of 1:54 set last year.
