Hoosier Park track report

Trainer Ralph Martinez appears to have successfully made the transition from Fairmount Park to Hoosier Park.

On Friday the 25-year-old Martinez saddled three winners on the card. He became the ninth trainer to register the feat and joins a list that includes Bernie Flint, Gary Patrick, and Stanley Roberts, who has pulled off the hat trick three times.

Martinez is based primarily at Hoosier Park, and will later be splitting his stable to compete at Hawthorne Race Course in Chicago as well. He dominates the Fairmount Park standings, where he enjoys a 129-47 advantage in the standings.

Martinez's Friday winners all came for owner Louis O'Brien. Martinez sent out Effusive ($8.80) in the sixth, L. L. Cat ($4) in the seventh, and Junket ($2.80) in the ninth, with stable rider Ramsey Zimmerman aboard for all three. Martinez moved to top of the local standings with seven winners, and is eighth in the nation in races won with 137 victories this year. For the year he is saddling winners at a 27-percent clip with 61 percent of his starters finishing in the money.
