Hoosier Park: Ghost Queen by four

ANDERSON, Ind. - Under Tony D'Amico, Ghost Queen rallied to a four-length victory in the $104,500 Hoosier Debutante Stakes before a crowd of 2,201 at Hoosier Park.

Ghost Queen saved ground behind the early pace set by Bettybird and Spanish Hound as they clicked off fractions of 22.16 and 45.87 seconds in the six-furlong race. Bettybird was the first to give out on the lead, and Spanish Hound looked leg-weary nearing the eighth pole. Ghost Queen angled four wide turning for home, reached the leader in midstretch, and quickly moved off to score in 1:11.78 over the fast track.

Trained by Michael Lauer, Ghost Queen boosted her record to 3-2-2 from eight starts and has earnings of more than $145,000.

Dispatched at more than 11-1, Ghost Queen returned $24.60. Tejano Honey, another longshot in the field 10, checked in second, a nose in front of Lead Story in third. The 1-10-9 trifecta returned $5,048. Spanish Hound, the 3-2 favorite, faded to sixth.
