Hoosier: Bruce on the Loose again

Email

Bruce on the Loose looks to stay unbeaten when he heads a field of 12 2-year-old Indiana-breds, including a pair of entries, in the $40,000 Indiana Futurity at Hoosier Park.

Trained by Robert Lester, Bruce on the Loose was a 6 1/2-length winner of his maiden race on Sept. 9. He returned Oct. 2 under Lester Knight to capture his stakes debut in the Hillsdale by 1 1/4 lengths after encountering traffic problems entering the turn. With Lester again in the irons, Bruce on the Loose should be well backed in his quest for his third straight win in the six-furlong futurity.

Snack, third in the Hillsdale, appears to have a good chance to pull off a mild upset. The big field includes a host of speed horses and Snack has proved he can lay near the pace or come from well back.

Trained by Mike Lauer, Snack was second at a price of better than 50-1 in his career debut at Churchill Downs. He then was taken to Mountaineer, where he picked up a second and a third before coming to Hoosier to win his maiden Sept. 3.

Lauer also sends out Noifsnoandsnobuts, a 7 1/4-length winner of his maiden here Oct. 16. The two will race as an entry.

Stephen Fosdick will send out a triple-threat entry of Marc Medown, Teddy's Payton, and Captain Bob Jo Jr. All enter the race off a maiden win.

Unforgottenpromise, winner of the Hoosier Silver Cup on Oct. 17, is the only other stakes winner in the field and has Bill Troilo coming in to ride for trainer Joe Davis.
