DEL MAR, Calif. – With Honors followed up her impressive debut win from earlier in the meet with a victory Monday in the $102,415 Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf, stamping herself as the best 2-year-old turf filly on the West Coast and a top contender for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf the first weekend of November at Santa Anita.

With Honors ($6), the favorite, stalked longshot Unforgivable U during the slowly run early portion of the race, edged to the front nearing the quarter pole, then unleashed a 23.40-second final quarter-mile that propelled her to victory in 1:37.85 for one mile on firm turf. Flavien Prat was aboard.

You Missed It, second to With Honors in a maiden race July 29, ended up in the same spot again, a half-length behind With Honors. Lady Beware was another 2 1/4 lengths back in third, then came, in order, Blame It On Alphie, Auntjenn, Totem Power, Go Argento, Simmy’s Temple, Noble Dancer, Jami Racer, Broken Marriage, and Unforgivable U.

Keith Desormeaux trains With Honors, a daughter of War Front, for her breeders, the Roth family’s LNJ Foxwoods.

Desormeaux said the Surfer Girl on Oct. 10 at Santa Anita would be the final Breeders’ Cup prep for With Honors.
