Homeister coming out of retirement

Jockey Rosemary Homeister Jr., who announced her retirement in November 2004, has decided to resume her career and will begin accepting mounts at Calder beginning Saturday, June 17.

Homeister, the Eclipse Award winner as the nation's leading apprentice in 1992, was among the top female riders in the country when she retired. She has won 1,726 races, 953 of which came at Calder Race Course, where she regularly finished in the top 10 for over a decade. Homeister also realized what she called her lifetime dream when she rode Supah Blitz for trainer Manny Tortora in the 2003 Kentucky Derby.
