Hollywood: Stormy Jack in a photo

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Stormy Jack prevailed in a three-horse photo to win the second stakes of his career in Thursday's $102,550 On Trust Handicap at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, Stormy Jack ran 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:28.65, finishing a head in front of 17-1 Waingarth. Ceeband, the 3-5 favorite, finished third, a head behind Waingarth. Stormy Jack paid $8.20 to win. The race was restricted to California-breds.

Stormy Jack was third on the backstretch, racing well off the rail while chasing the pace of 23.24 and 46.10 seconds set by Flying Rudolph and Waingarth.

On the final turn, Stormy Jack was fourth as Ceeband, rallying wide, moved into third place. Delahoussaye gave Stormy Jack a patient ride, waiting until the final furlong before urging his mount between Waingarth and Ceeband. Stormy Jack took the lead in the final stride.

Trained by Bob Baffert for Jack and Florence Arnold, Stormy Jack has won 6 of 16 starts and $480,624. The 4-year-old Stormy Jack won a division of the Oceanside Stakes at Del Mar in 2000 and was second to Ceeband in the California Cup Sprint on Nov. 3 at Santa Anita.

The On Trust Handicap was Stormy Jack's first win away from Del Mar.
