INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Ultra Blend won her fourth stakes in her last five starts with a perfect trip in Saturday's $125,000 B. Thoughtful Stakes for statebred fillies and mares.

Ridden by Joel Rosario, Ultra Blend was sixth in the field of seven on the backstretch, moved into contention with a wide rally on the turn and ran down pacesetter Lady Railrider to win by a length. Ultra Blend ($3.60) ran 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:30.40.

"When she took to it at the five-sixteenths pole, she was tough and ran them down," winning trainer Art Sherman said. "I was pretty confident today."

Lady Railrider finished second, 2 1/4 lengths in front of West Ruler, who was making her second career start in a stakes and first since 2009.

Ultra Blend, a 5-year-old mare by Richly Blended, has won 9 of 20 starts and $535,646 for owner Nels Erickson. Ultra Blend won the California Cup Matron and Cat's Cradle Handicap here last fall. At Santa Anita earlier this year, she was third in the Sunshine Millions Distaff and won the Valentine Dancer Handicap, both restricted races.

Sherman hinted that Ultra Blend could make her next start in a graded stakes, since there are few opportunities in statebred races in coming weeks.
