INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Narrowly beaten in the Grade 2 Honeymoon Handicap last month, Trois Aureole handled a drop in class to win her first stakes in Sunday’s minor $69,400 Le Cle Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park. Ridden by Joe Talamo, Trois Aureole ($4.80) closed from fourth in a field of five to win the one-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies by 1 1/2 lengths over 12-1 Long Face. Lady Ten, the 6-5 favorite, finished third. Trois Aureole was timed in 1:36.25. Trois Aureole was two or three lengths behind pacesetter Lemon Hero through the first half-mile and closed with a wide rally in early stretch to reach contention. “She has a great turn of foot,” Talamo said. “I think she’s starting to come into herself.” Owned by J.W. Singer and trained by John Sadler, Trois Aureole has won 3 of 6 starts and $111,116. A filly by English Channel, Trois Auerole won a $75,000 claiming race for maidens at Santa Anita in March and an optional claimer over a mile on turf here in May. She was fourth, beaten 1 1/2 lengths in the Honeymoon Handicap on June 9, her stakes debut.
