Hollywood Park: Sister Moon steps up in Railbird Stakes

Sister Moon will be seeking her first stakes victory in Saturday's Grade 3 Railbird at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Owners Jerry and Ann Moss and trainer John Sadler have the favorite in the Grade 3 Railbird in Sister Moon, a Dixie Union filly who has won two of three starts. The $100,000 stakes is for 3-year-old fillies over seven furlongs.

Sister Moon has yet to win a stakes, having finished second in the minor Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita last October. In her only subsequent start, Sister Moon was an easy winner of an allowance race over six furlongs by 5 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita on March 23.

Sister Moon is expected to set the pace in the Railbird and may prove impossible to catch.

“She’s versatile,” Sadler said. “I don’t want to get a head of myself, but I think she’s a [Hollywood] Oaks filly. I think she can run a distance once she gets in a pattern and can get a few races in a row.”

Sister Moon may have the most potential of the Railbird entrants, but Killer Graces is the most accomplished. She won the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet here last December, but was winless in three starts in stakes at Santa Anita earlier this year.
