INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Teddy’s Promise won the $93,850 Time to Leave Stakes for the second consecutive year at Betfair Hollywood Park on Sunday. This year, she had a much easier win than her half-length score in 2012.

Sunday, Teddy’s Promise stalked the early pace shared by Magical Band and Hidinginplainsight, rallied on the rail on the turn and pulled away to win by 4 1/4 lengths without significant urging from jockey Victor Espinoza.

Teddy’s Promise ($2.80) ran five furlongs in 56.80 seconds. Shumoos, a 6-1 shot, closed from sixth in a field of seven to finish second, a head in front of 7-1 Magical Band.

Owned by breeders Ted and Judy Nichols and trainer Ron Ellis, Teddy’s Promise, 5, earned $56,010. A mare by Salt Lake, Teddy’s Promise has won 9 of 23 starts and $710,991.

Earlier this year, Teddy’s Promise won the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes at Santa Anita, and was second, as the 4-5 favorite, in the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes there on March 10.

Teddy’s Promise was entered for the B. Thoughtful Stakes here on April 27, but was withdrawn because of a bruised foot. She did not miss any training time, allowing for a start in the Time to Leave Stakes.

Ellis said she will be pointed for the $200,000 A Gleam Handicap over seven furlongs on July 13, with a possible start in the $70,000 Desert Stormer Handicap over six furlongs on June 16.
