Hollywood Park: Rousing Sermon likely lone starter for Hollendorfer in Real Quiet

California Cup Juvenile winner Rousing Sermon starts in Saturday’s $100,000 Real Quiet Stakes at Hollywood Park, and is likely to be trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s lone runner.

Hollendorfer had three 2-year-old nominated for the Real Quiet, which is run over 1 1/16 miles. Galex, second to Secret Circle in the Jack Goodman Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 10, will be pointed for the $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Stakes on Nov. 24, according to Hollendorfer’s assistant, Dan Ward.  Longview Drive, the winner of the Cavonnier Juvenile and Charlie Palmer Futurity on the California fair circuit, is a candidate for the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes on Nov. 19.

Rousing Sermon races for breeders Larry and Marianne Williams. The Cal Cup Juvenile over 1 1/16 miles on Oct. 29 was Rousing Sermon’s first start around two turns.

“We’ve been waiting to go two turns since we got him,” Ward said. “In his sprints at Del Mar, he ran like a two-turn horse.”

At Del Mar, Rousing Sermon was third in the Graduation and I’m Smokin Stakes for statebred sprinters, closing well in each race.
