INGLEWOOD, Calif. – A little later than originally intended, Marketing Mix makes her 2013 debut in the $250,000 Gamely Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park on May 27.

She will resume her career where she left off in fall 2012 – racing against the best turf fillies and mares on the circuit.

Owned by Glen Hill Farm and trained by Tom Proctor, Marketing Mix won the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita last fall, a race known in previous years as the Yellow Ribbon Stakes. Marketing Mix followed her win in the Rodeo Drive with a game second to Zagora in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 2.

Following that race, Proctor gave her a break before she resumed training at Tampa Bay Downs in late winter. Marketing Mix was entered in the Distaff Turf Mile at Churchill Downs on the Kentucky Derby undercard earlier this month, but was withdrawn from the race.

Marketing Mix, 5, was sent to California a few days later.

“She’s doing good,” Proctor said Saturday. “She’s pretty willing to train.”

A winner of 8 of 16 starts and $1,659,518, Marketing Mix will be ridden by Gary Stevens in the Grade 1 Gamely, which is run over 1 1/8 miles on turf. The competition is fierce, including the first two finishers of the Grade 2 Santa Barbara Handicap at Santa Anita in April – Tiz Flirtatious and Lady of Shamrock – as well as My Gi Gi, who won the Grade 2 Honeymoon Handicap against Lady of Shamrock here last June.

Halo Dolly, winner of the Grade 2 Wilshire Handicap here April 28, is another expected starter.
