INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Givine closed from off the pace to give owner Marsha Naify and trainer Julio Canani their second stakes win in less than 24 hours in Sunday’s $73,250 Great Lady M. Stakes.

Saturday, Naify and Canani teamed to win the Grade 2 American Handicap with Ryehill Dreamer.

Givine ($9.60) ran six furlongs on turf in 1:08.26, winning her second start in the United States. A 4-year-old French-bred filly by Blackdoun, Givine was staked-placed twice in France in June 2010. She has won 6 of 10 starts and $145,432.

Ridden by Joel Rosario, Givine was fourth on the backstretch, well behind Ultra Awesome, who set a pace of 22.16 and 45.11 seconds. Rosario guided Givine four-wide entering the stretch and won by a half-length over Separate Forest, the winner of the Grade 3 Las Cienegas Handicap at Santa Anita on April 9. Broken Dreams, the 4-5 favorite, finished third, followed by Ultra Awesome and Lunar Mist.

Givine finished eighth in the Wishing Well Stakes on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita in January in her U.S. debut.
