Hollywood Park: Acclamation appears fine galloping

Acclamation seemed physically fit when he galloped Saturday, one day after being scratched from the Inglewood Handicap.

A day after being withdrawn from the Grade 3 Inglewood Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park over concern about his soundness, Acclamation resumed light training at Santa Anita on Saturday, trainer Don Warren said.

The champion older male of 2011, Acclamation was scheduled to make his first start of the year in the Inglewood on Friday evening, but was withdrawn on the afternoon of the race.

Friday, Warren expressed concern about Acclamation’s condition following a gallop at Santa Anita on Thursday. While he said Acclamation “seemed perfectly fine” Thursday afternoon, precautionary X-rays were taken on Friday, which proved negative. Still, Warren opted not to run Acclamation, who would have been heavily favored in the Inglewood.

Saturday, Acclamation was on the track at Santa Anita.

“He’s looks like he’s jogging fine now,” Warren said on Saturday.

Owned by a partnership led by breeder Bud Johnston, Acclamation has won his last five starts, all in graded stakes. A 6-year-old California-bred by Unusual Heat, Acclamation has won 9 of 28 starts and $1,628,048.
