Hollywood: 'Neighbor' lasts

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Fencelineneighbor captured her second stakes race in the five starts since being purchased privately by John and Jerry Amerman when she won the $73,400 for 3-year-old fillies on the turf at Hollywood Park.

Fencelineneighbor ($7.60) was given a perfect ride by jockey Patrick Valenzuela. After tracking the early pacesetter, Shezsospiritual, Fencelineneighbor roared to the lead turning into the stretch, opened a 2 1/2-length advantage a furlong out, and held off 2-1 favorite Katdogawn to win by a half-length.

Desert View finished third, with the comebacking Quero Quero fourth. Shezsopiritual faded to finish eighth in the field of 10 after setting soft fractions of 25.12 seconds, 49.24, and 1:13.16 for the first six furlongs.

Trained by Mike Machowsky, Fencelineneighbor was timed in 1:49.18 for 1 1/8 miles on firm turf. She has now won 6 times in 17 starts.
