Hollywood Hit uncorks a blockbuster

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Hollywood Hit is officially a monster. He shattered Woodbine's six-furlong Polytrack record during an authoritative score Wednesday night at Woodbine in the $101,700 King Corrie Stakes.

Hollywood Hit ($3.40) went right to the lead under Jim McAleney, and was pressed by Stuck in Traffic through lively fractions, on a surface that was yielding quick clockings.

Hollywood Hit began to draw away nearing the eighth pole, and got home on top by 5 1/2 lengths over Bogue Chitto. His time of 1:07.38 was 0.93 of a second faster than the previous record, which was set last year by Legal Move, who finished sixth in the seven-horse field.

"I was as amazed with this horse today as I've ever been," said McAleney. "I gave him a pet galloping out, and then it dawned on me that I better pull him up before we hit the seven-eighths. He was just going that fast."

It was the first stakes victory for Hollywood Hit, who banked $60,000 for owner Peter Redekop and trainer Terry Jordan.
