Hollywood Gold Cup part of three-stakes day

Hollywood Park has moved the $750,000 Hollywood Gold Cup forward by two weeks for its 2007 spring-summer meeting, and will continue a theme from past years of offering multiple graded stakes on the same day. Hollywood will offer $8.7 million in stakes purses during the meeting, which begins April 25 and and ends July 15.

The Grade 1 Gold Cup, the richest race of the meeting for older horses, will be run on June 30 as part of a program that features two other stakes, including the $250,000 American Handicap on turf.

The first major event of the meeting is the $1.31 million California Gold Rush program for statebreds on April 29, a day led by the $250,000 Snow Chief Stakes for 3-year-olds.

The richest race of the meeting, the $1 million CashCall Mile, will be run for the first time on a Friday evening, July 6, as part of a card that includes two other stakes. The following day, the $750,000 American Oaks for 3-year-old fillies is the top race on a day that has two other Grade 1 races - the $300,000 Triple Bend Handicap and $300,000 Vanity Handicap.

Hollywood will run four stakes on June 9, Belmont Stakes Day, including the $300,000 Charles Whittingham Handicap on turf.

The $350,000 Swaps Breeders' Cup Stakes for 3-year-olds will be run July 14.
