SAN MATEO, Calif. - Jerry Hollendorfer tied a Northern California training record with five wins at Bay Meadows on Wednesday.

It marked the third time Hollendorfer has won five races in a day. He also did it at Golden Gate Fields on May 1, 1996, and at Bay Meadows on Jan. 23, 1997. Walter Greenman (Nov. 25, 1970 at Bay Meadows) and Ace Gibson (Feb. 24, 1971 at Golden Gate Fields) also had five winners in one day.

Hollendorfer's winners were A Reel Tizzy ($6.60) second race, Shadow Raider ($9.40) third, High Liability ($5.40) fourth, My Ruby Charm ($4.20) sixth and Lucky Sabre ($12.60) seventh. Russell Baze rode the first four winners with Ron Warren Jr. aboard Lucky Sabre.

Moon Mullins finished third in the eighth race as Hollendorfer tried to become the first Northern California with six winners. He also saddled Cantaloupe, last to stablemate A Reel Tizzy in the second, and Gone to Party, a runner-up to Lucky Sabre in the seventh.

"Everything fell into place, and we got a little lucky," Hollendorfer said. "I thought Guidebook (the 1-to-2 favorite in the seventh race) was a cinch, but she didn't handle the track, and Lucky Sabre got a good, ground-saving trip."

Hollendorfer currently has 47 victories at the Bay Meadows meeting.
