Hollendorfer has quartet to work with

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has all his bases covered for Saturday's Grade 3, $125,000 Stanford Breeders' Cup Handicap.

Hollendorfer nominated four horses to the 1 1/16-mile turf race, and entered all four on Thursday, keeping an eye on the weather. Rain could affect whether all 10 older runners entered in the race actually start, and could necessitate a surface switch.

Bay Meadows officials will do everything possible to keep the race on the turf, because if there is a surface switch the race would lose its graded status.

It's unlikely that Hollendorfer would run all four horses. Adreamisborn, Congressionalhonor, and Gold Ruckus would run coupled. Yougottawanna is his fourth entrant.

"I want to see what the weather is like," he said.

, with victories on turf and on wet tracks, appears the likeliest to run. Winner of the Grade 3 Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs last year, Adreamisborn ran third in the Grade 3 Seabiscuit this year.

His consistency makes him the one to beat.

Weather could affect other entrants. Lightly raced Fantastic Spain has made all five of his career starts on turf, and Night Bokbel has made 23 of 25 career starts on the turf.

is another strictly turf performer of late, and comes off a fourth-place finish as the favorite in the Turf Paradise Breeders' Cup Handicap.

Martin said that True Dancer was tired after the Turf Paradise race and that he has done his best to freshen him.

"He's a cut below top horses, but he tries hard no matter how tough the company is," he said.

True Dancer is 4 for 6 with a second over the turf here.

Trainer Bob Hess is in a similar situation with My Creed, who won the James F. Lyttle at Santa Rosa and the Emerald Downs Breeders' Cup Derby last summer. He plans to run but wouldn't be disappointed if the race were shifted to the main track.

"He runs better on dirt, but he runs on turf," said Hess.

won last year's Bay Meadows Derby over the course.

But they'll all be trying to catch - with Adreamisborn likely to get first run, along with My Creed.
