Hollendorfer finishes one-two

Yougottawanna ($13.80) got a perfect stalking trip, taking over near the quarter pole, and then held off odds-on Adreamisborn to win the Forty-Niner Handicap at Golden Gate Fields.

Yougottawanna, claimed for $50,000, then re-claimed for $80,000 earlier this year by trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, sat off Kristine's King through moderate fractions in the 1 1/16-mile race. He took the lead on the second turn and opened up into the stretch.

Adreamisborn, who is also trained by Hollendorfer and raced as part of a 4-5 entry with Gold Ruckus, began to make up ground as he moved four wide on the second turn. He closed steadily but finished a neck behind the winner, who was clocked in 1:42.16. My Creed was third, another 3 1/2 lengths back.

"Jerry just told me this horse doesn't like to get dirt in his face and don't get too far off the pace with him. It worked out good," winning jockey Chad Schvaneveldt said. "He sure is game. About 100 yards from the wire, I thought I was beat, but he kept digging."

Hollendorfer was "pretty pleased with both" and said he thought the fact Yougottawanna got first run and that Adreamisborn probably needed one more work explained the finish.

Yougottawanna earned $48,900 for his ninth victory in 30 starts, increasing his career earnings to $574,124.

Hollendorfer indicated he would consider the Lafayette Handicap on New Year's Day for both his runners.
