Holiday finale for Endlessly

The holiday season also is a season of transition for many horses and horsemen.

For a filly such as Endlessly, who will be one of the favorites Saturday in the $50,000 Holiday Inaugural at Turfway Park, the race likely will be her career finale before she is bred next year to Maria's Mon.

For Endlessly's trainer, Dale Romans, the race is a way to try to make a living before he and his best horses move south for the winter at Gulfstream Park.

"I've already got eight grass horses down there," said Romans. "The rest will go down in mid-December."

Endlessly has been sharp in recent starts and would give a fitting conclusion to her career if she can win the Holiday Inaugural, the first stakes of the 27-day holiday meet at Turfway in Florence, Ky. Owned by Ron McKee, Endlessly won an

Oct. 14 allowance at Keeneland before finishing a close second in her most recent start, a Nov. 20 allowance at Churchill Downs.

To have a successful send-off, Endlessly will have to defeat the likes of Spanish Glitter, who most likely will be favored in the six-furlong race. Trained by Bernie Flint, Spanish Glitter has earned over $280,000 this year. She drew the far outside post in a full field of 12.

Other contenders include Silk Sails, who will be coupled with Endlessly in the wagering as a McKee-Romans stablemate, and City Fair, a game winner of a Churchill allowance in her last start.
