Hill goes 1 for 3 riding locally

While racing in New York took a holiday last week for Palm Sunday, rider Channing Hill took advantage of the situation to return home for a family engagement and also pick up a trio of rides at Fonner Park.

Hill, a Columbus, Neb., native and eighth in the rider standings at Aqueduct, won with his first career mount at Fonner aboard a horse named for him, C Hill, trained by longtime family friend Bill Conyers. Hill then finished fourth aboard 3-2 favorite Midnite Rumble in the sixth race and stayed around for the nightcap to finish second aboard Whosallinthere, also trained by Conyers.

* Larren Delorme upstaged Hill's one-day appearance Sunday, winning four straight races for his best day of the season while Dennis Collins picked up wins in three of the first four races on the card. The streak moved Delorme to sixth in the standings with 20 wins.

* Saturday's card will feature the $15,000 Runza Stakes for older fillies and mares and the Baxter Stakes, rescheduled from last Saturday. Up 'n Blumin is expected to make her seasonal debut in the Runza, which also may include Lovesablumin, winner of the Orphan Kist Stakes, and Salty Attraction, a two-time winner this year. Will Rogers
