ARCADIA, Calif. - High Standards, who began his career in a maiden claimer, remained unbeaten after pulling an upset in Saturday's $110,450 at Santa Anita.

High Standards ($16.60) ran just behind pacesetter Run Thruthe Sun to the eighth pole before taking the lead. Ridden by Edgar Prado, High Standards pulled away late to win by 2 1-2 lengths, finishing 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:16.16.

Talking to John rallied from sixth to finish second, a nose in front of Run Thruthe Sun. Chandtrue, the 8-5 favorite, finished sixth. The race marked the first loss of his career, and his first start since last July.

The Baldwin Stakes was scheduled for the hillside turf course but transferred to dirt because of wet weather on Friday. The race lost five starters to scratches on Saturday.

High Standards won his debut in a maiden race for $50,000 claimers at Hollywood Park last November. Owned by Harris Farms and trained by Marty Jones, High Standards returned to win an allowance race at Bay Meadows on Feb. 11, his only other start this year. A California-bred, High Standards has earned $100,920 from three starts.
