High Chaparral out until July

Aidan O'Brien said Tuesday that High Chaparral will not run in either the Coronation Cup at Epsom on June 6 or at Royal Ascot two weeks later. A persistent shoulder problem is expected to keep High Chaparral, winner of last year's Epsom Derby, Irish Derby, and Breeders' Cup Turf, out of action until July.

* Cassis sprung a 16-1 upset in the Musidora Stakes at York on Tuesday, coming from last to first in an eight-runner field to land the Group 3 prep for the English Oaks.

It was a vintage performance by Pat Eddery, 51, an 11-time British riding champion. He brought the Jeremy Noseda-trained Cassis to the lead near the line to defeat Geminiani by a length. Cassis ran the 1 1/4 miles and 85 yards in 2:09.08.

Cassis, who had previously finished ninth in the seven-furlong Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes, is not nominated to the English Oaks and Geminiani is only a possibility for the race.

* On Thursday at Long-champ, Jipapibaquigrafo, second to French Derby favorite Dalakhani in the Group 2 Prix Greffulhe on April 20, should get back on the winning track in the 1 1/8-mile and 55-yard Prix de Guiche, a Group 3 prep for the Grand Prix de Paris. Improving allowance winners Art Moderne and Marshall should not be far behind.
