High Blitz looks formidable

The consistent sprinter High Blitz figures to dominate Saturday's $60,000, six-furlong Chesapeake at Colonial Downs.

The 7-year-old High Blitz, 10 for 25 lifetime, last season won two sprint stakes, including the Mr. Prospector at Monmouth Park.

High Blitz has started only once this season, just missing from slightly off the pace on June 30. He usually runs well when his races are spaced 30 days or so apart, winning 3 of 5 starts off short layoffs the past two seasons.

Forest Park, who has won 12 of 24 lifetime, would be High Blitz's chief rival if he runs. But Forest Park is cross-entered in Saturday's $125,000 Harvey Arneault Memorial Breeders' Cup at Mountaineer Race Track, and trainer Mike Pino said he is leaning toward running for the richer purse in West Virginia.

Without Forest Park in the lineup, Mister Supremo's chances would improve. He has been first or second in 6 of 7 starts this season, mostly against high-priced optional claiming company. He must carry high weight of 124 pounds, two more than High Blitz.
