Heza Wild Guy draws outside at Hoosier

Heza Wild Guy will have to overcome the outside post to defeat 11 older Indiana-bred rivals in the $100,000 To Much Coffee at Hoosier Park on Sunday. Trained by Bernell Rhone, Heza Wild Guy has won 4 of 8 races this year, although three of those wins have come over turf.

The 7-year-old won the A.J. Foyt on turf at Indiana Downs on July 5 by 8 1/4 lengths over many of the same horses he will face in the To Much Coffee. Rhone then took Heza Wild Guy to Remington Park in Oklahoma City, where he won two races in a row on turf before finishing second in a starter handicap at the same 1 1/16-mile distance as the To Much Coffee. Heza Wild Guy finished fourth in the 2007 To Much Coffee, but has the best recent form of any horse in this year's race. Tommy Pompell will ride.

Sahmmy Davis Jr. won the 2007 To Much Coffee, but has only one win since. That victory came in his last out, the Brickyard Stakes here Oct. 25. In that six-furlong event, Sahmmy Davis Jr. came from the back of the field early to draw off and win by 3 1/2 lengths. Prior to that race, he finished third in the open Schaefer Mile.

Trained by Randy Klopp, the

4-year-old gelding is 2 for 2 going 1 1/16 miles. Azael Deleon retains the mount.
