Heso heads Special

Heso stretches out to a mile for the first time in his career when he headlines the $20,000 State Fair Breeders' Special at Lincoln.

Heso, owned by Richard Galyen, was a strong six-length winner of the $30,000 Fonner Park Special in his last start on April 21 while under the care of Larry Donlin. He has been in training at Prairie Meadows with trainer Kelly Von Hemel since the end of the Fonner meet and should loom a strong favorite with Dennis Collins set to ride.

Looking to upset this field on the front end is Bevys Best, who is trained by Larry Staroscik. Bevys Best set the pace to the stretch of the Fonner Special before weakening to third. He then rebounded with a

4 3/4-length win over entry-level allowance company at Lincoln on June 1. A son of Blumin Affair out of multiple stakes-winning Bevy Anne, Bevys Best has the pedigree to go longer and could easily find himself on an open lead in this spot.
