Heritage Place Thoroughbred sale set for Dec. 13


Heritage Place, the auction house in Oklahoma City, will put on its third annual winter mixed Thoroughbred sale Dec. 13. The auction will feature breeding stock and horses of racing age and is being held in conjunction with closing weekend at Remington Park.

Entries to the sale close Saturday, said Spence Kidney, general manager of Heritage Place.

Heritage Place is an indoor facility that puts on a number of major auctions for Quarter Horses. The sale for Thoroughbreds will begin at 11 a.m. Central.

◗ Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M., announced that nominations are out for its Nov. 26 program, featuring the $300,000 Zia Oaks and $200,000 Zia Derby, both for Thoroughbreds.

◗ Retama Park near San Antonio puts on the final stakes of its Thoroughbred meet on Saturday night, with a pair of 2-year-old divisions of the Texas Stallion Stakes. Each is worth $75,000.

◗ Lone Star Park near Dallas has the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity for Quarter Horses on Saturday night.
