Hebert's victory total at 3,000

Making his one mount on Wednesday night's Evangeline Downs program count, journeyman rider Tracy Hebert picked up career victory number 3,000 in the fourth race. On a rain-drenched evening, Hebert was joined in the winner's circle following the milestone by his wife, Angie, the Evangeline Downs riding colony, and the track's racing secretary, Jason Boulet.

Hebert's 3,000th win came aboard My Foriels On, a Louisiana-bred 4-year-old daughter of My Mike who recorded her third lifetime victory in 17 starts. Owned and bred by Mike Meeks, she is trained by Brian House and covered the seven furlongs on a sloppy track in 1:24.72.

Hebert, 43, has had his riding career interrupted several times because of substance-abuse problems. He began his career in Louisiana in 1979 and won riding titles in the 1980's at Jefferson Downs and Delta Downs before relocating to Kentucky during the 1990 season. For the next decade he was one of the top riders on that circuit, capturing leading rider titles at both Ellis Park and Turfway Park.

Returning to his home state in 2003, Hebert now splits his time between the Fair Grounds and Louisiana Downs, where he is currently the fifth leading rider.
