HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Arkansas Racing Commission on Saturday was to hear trainer Ron Moquett’s appeal of the results of the $150,000 Purple Martin Stakes, run March 25 at Oaklawn, according to a representative of the state agency.

Our Majesty, trained by Moquett, finished first but was disqualified and placed fourth by the stewards for an incident on the backstretch.

The meeting at Oaklawn will begin at 10:15 a.m. Central.

At the same meeting, the commission will hear appeals from jockeys Ricardo Santana Jr. and Ramon Vazquez, according to the agency representative. Both are appealing recent three-day suspensions from the stewards for riding infractions. Santana is appealing a ruling stemming from the Purple Martin, in which he rode Our Majesty.

The appeal by Vazquez concerns a suspension for his ride aboard Goats Town in a March 19 allowance at Oaklawn. He was to start a three-day suspension Sunday, as was Santana.
