Hear No Evil best at Calder

MIAMI - Hear No Evil solidified his status as the top 2-year-old on the grounds with a half-length victory over a fast-closing Supah Blitz in Saturday's $100,000 Criterium Stakes at Calder.

Hear No Evil, who equaled the 5 1/2-furlong course record defeating allowance company in his previous start, on Saturday rallied from off the pace set by stablemate Awesome of Course. Hear No Evil took command in early stretch and withstood the closing surge of Supah Blitz, who had a slow start. Lex Luthier rallied mildly to overtake the tiring Awesome of Course for third.

Hear No Evil was ridden by Abel Castellano Jr. and returned $3.60. He is owned by Jacks or Better Farm and trained by James Hatchett. Final time was 1:06.02 seconds over a track downgraded from fast to good earlier in the day.

Hatchett said both Hear No Evil and Awesome of Course will be sent to Saratoga with trainer Tim Ritvo. The Sanford at Saratoga and Monmouth's Sapling Stakes are being considered for their next start.
