AURORA, Col. - Haxtun's Hustler, an invader from Lone Star Park, could go favored in Monday's $25,000 Mount Elbert at Arapahoe Park. The 1 1/16-mile stakes, restricted to statebreds, drew a field of five.

Haxtun's Hustler, a 4-year-old who will be making his first start for trainer William Brownlee after being trained by Danny Pish in Texas, most recently finished second in a first-level allowance against open company. He was beaten a length by Service Hawk in that 1 1/16-mile race contested over a muddy surface on July 5.

Haxtun's Hustler defeated conditioned $30,000 claimers in his first start of 2007 in April. He has been worse than third only once in four subsequent tries to clear his first allowance condition.

Haxtun's Hustler will be ridden by Russell Viccrilli.

Cut of Music, trained by Kevin Eikleberry, figures to offer the sternest opposition. A 7-year-old with 14 lifetime victories, Cut of Music lost by a neck to Absolutely True in the seven-furlong Front Range locally on July 4. Prior to that, Cut of Music scored by three-quarters of a length in the six-furlong Aspen Handicap on June 18.

Primarily a sprinter, Cut of Music will be racing beyond a mile for the first time since he missed by a head in this same stakes two years ago.

o Dazzling Blu Skies, a winner of 2 of 3 starts and second in the July 9 Colorado Lassie, looks formidable in the co-featured $17,000 Silver Cup Futurity for 2-year-old fillies going 5 1/2 furlongs.
