Hawthorne: Saturday 8/27 Analysis

Race 9 - $20,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (17 - 29 / $84.40): SAND OF THE BEACH (7th)

Spot Play: LADY’S ART (3rd)

Race 1

(3) HARMONY ALWAYS well bred filly has room to improve third start out for proven connections.  (5) BLISSFUL PANSY faces a weak group full of question marks.  (6) ABSOLUTE HEAVEN just missed last week against similar.  The 3-year-old is 0 for 14 on the year; command a price.

Race 2

(1) DONALD HIMSELF raced well from a tough spot last week.  The pacer was the top driver's choice and starts from the rail.  (7) DONTGETBYME is always a threat at this level.  The veteran pacer has made the most money in the field on the year.  (3) WILLIWIN has just been racing evenly but can hit the board with a good setup.

Race 3

(5) LADY'S ART well bred mare faces significantly weaker and owns a win against better at the track.  (2) ALIBI SEELSTER mare looks to offer low value and has come up empty in her recent starts; use caution.  (6) ICED OUT has been facing much tougher and was the driver's choice.

Race 4

(5) FOX VALLEY CUPID doesn't win often but should be able to handle this bunch with a good effort.  (2) NANCYS SKYSCAPE just missed last start racing gamely.  (1) R DUNESHINE jumps up with decent efforts from time to time; use underneath.

Race 5

(2) DUNESIDE SPORT showed a big late burst of speed two weeks ago.  If the pacer races like that it gets the job done.  (3) EXPLODENT went a big three-quarters of a mile last week before tiring late.  (6) CAPELO will look to make it three straight wins; fires late.

Race 6

(5) FOX VALLEY GYPSY filly has been disappointing this year, however she faces a very weak field.  (1) FOX VALLEY PIPA five-year-old is much better from off the pace.  She looks to offer good value and is capable especially should the top choice falter.  (6) DUNESIDE PERTTIE doesn't look the best on paper but has been facing much tougher.

Race 7

(3) SAND OF THE BEACH scored a big win off more than a year layoff last out.  The pacer should only improve second start back.  (1) MIGHTY HOT SHOT was the top driver's choice of three but rarely wins; command a price.  (5) MAJOR ED owns the fastest win in the field at the track.  The pacer has raced poorly in two straight and will need to bounce back.

Race 8

(7) IDEAL ROWAN was awesome two back before having a tough go of it last week.  The pacer will offer a big price and might be one of few threats in the race.  (6) FOX VALLEY ELIJAH has burned cash in three of four.  The four-year-old owns a decent brush and is in real soft.  (3) BC'S BAD CAT has been competitive against similar on the year.

Race 9

(6) BASS PLAYER freshman pacer has a nice pedigree and room to improve.  (4) SPIRITED ENCOUNTER has offered a low price four weeks in a row only to come up short every time.  (8) HEZA TERROR has room to improve against a suspect bunch.  The 3-year-old faces younger and showed some gate speed last start.

Race 10

(6) THE REAL TONE well bred mare drops down out of the Open and will be used aggressively.  (7) DANDY'S DIVA filly has been inconsistent most of the year.  A good effort puts her in the mix.  (2) PROSPER mare picks up the top driver off some decent efforts.

Race 11

(8) MAKEOUTLIKEAPANDIT has been close in four of six despite not being able to seal the deal.  The 5-year-old will offer a big price and could use a smooth trip.  (9) WHY ASK WHY pacer seems to race to his competition but has surprised with big upsets in the past.   (7) BIG BRAD six-year-old stallion is one of the biggest cash burners at the track.  The pacer always takes heavy money in Illinois and owns only three wins in sixty plus starts; use underneath.

Race 12

In one of the toughest races to handicap on the card, (5) KRUSTY THE CLOWN looks to offer value and owns a fast win at this level three back.  (6) WINNING DREAM gets sent out for a hot barn off a winning qualifier.  (9) TORNADO HENRY pacer will need a fast pace to close into for his best chance to hit the ticket.
