Hawaiian Choice comes off big debut

Friday evening's $26,000 allowance feature at Evangeline will mark the second start for the promising 3-year-old gelding Hawaiian Choice. Trained by Victor Arceneaux, he will square off against 10 rivals at five furlongs.

Hawaiian Choice dominated in his debut when he made the early advantage under Billy Patin and cruised to a 14-length win over a sloppy strip. His 81 Beyer Speed Figure is one of the highest of the meeting for a 3-year-old.

Sired by the young stallion Choosing Choice, Hawaiian Choice is the first foal out of the Fraser River mare Hawaiian River. He was bred in Louisiana by Linda Sebastien and races for Robkat Racing Stable.

* The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Sales Co.'s summer mixed sale is set for Aug. 10. The event places an emphasis on yearlings and broodmares and will get under way at 10 a.m. at Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, La. Sires represented include perennial top Louisiana stallions Leestown, Gold Tribute, and Ide.
