HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Havre de Grace tuned up for a start for the Grade 1, $500,000 Apple Blossom Handicap by breezing five furlongs in a bullet 57.80 seconds on Sunday morning at her Oaklawn Park base. It was her final prep for the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares that will be run Friday.

Havre de Grace is co-highweighted at 119 pounds for the Apple Blossom, an assignment she shares with Switch. Blind Luck, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2010 who was pointing to the race is now likely to skip it, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said Sunday. He is looking at the La Troienne at Churchill Downs on May 6 for Blind Luck, with a final decision to be made Monday.

The prospective field for the Apple Blossom, with weights, is Havre de Grace, 119; Switch, 119; Miss Match, 116; Decelerator, 113; and Absinthe Minded, 112. Possibles include Satans Quick Chick, 113, and Sarah’s Song, 111.

Entries for the Apple Blossom will be taken Tuesday.

The Apple Blossom has been returned to both handicap status and its traditional distance of 1 1/16 miles this year after being run as 1 1/8-mile stakes in 2010 as part of an attempt to bring Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta together for what would have been their first matchup.

Havre de Grace will come into the race off a 3 1/2-length win over Blind Luck in the Grade 3, $150,000 Azeri at Oaklawn on March 19. Ramon Dominguez has the mount for trainer Larry Jones.

Switch last raced in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita at Santa Anita and finished second, a head behind winner Miss Match. Joel Rosario will ride Switch in the Apple Blossom for trainer John Sadler.
