Hastings: Inhisglory up at wire in River Rock Casino

Email

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Inhisglory got up just in time to edge Jump Up and Kissme by a nose in Sunday’s $50,000 River Rock Casino for 3-year-olds at Hastings.

With Richard Hamel in the irons, Inhisglory ($8) was sitting comfortably in a stalking position while Jump Up and Kissme set uncontested fractions of 22.01 and 45.85 seconds in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint. Inhisglory made an early bid to move into contention at the quarter pole and went into the stretch a length behind the front-runner. Under strong urging from Hamel, Inhisglory gradually wore down Jump Up and Kissme to win by the narrowest margin.

Heavily favored Avulsion tracked Inhisglory the whole way while finishing third. Final time for the race was 1:16.11.

In his last start, Inhisglory came from last to finish second in the 6 1/2-furlong Jim Coleman Province.

“I wanted to keep him a little closer today because the track was favoring speed a little more than usual,” Hamel said. “I cut it a little closer than I wanted, but it all worked out.”

Trained by Craig MacPherson, Inhisglory earned $30,000 for owner Peter Redekop.
