Hastings: Castinette Dancer gives Gutierrez fourth win of day in Boulevard Casino

Email

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Castinette Dancer got up in the final few jumps to edge Overvalued by a half-length in the $50,000 Boulevard Casino Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Hastings on Sunday.

Breaking alertly with Mario Gutierrez aboard, Castinette Dancer was content to lay off of a quick pace set by Overvalued.  She had 2 ½ lengths to make up at the top of the stretch and made a relentless move through the stretch to overtake the front-runner. The final time for 6 ½ six furlongs was 1:17.08. Belle Evangeline, who chased Overvalued through fractions of 22.20 and 45.17 seconds, tired to finish third.

Castinette Dancer raced greenly when she won a maiden special weight race in her previous start.

“She was perfect today,” said Gutierrez. “She relaxed beautifully, and then really kicked it into gear late.”

It was Gutierrez’s fourth win on the card.

Trained by Troy Taylor, Castinetee Dancer paid $5.90 as the 9-5 favorite in the seven-horse field.
