VANCOUVER, British Columbia  - Castinette Dancer ($4.80) came from a stalking position to easily win the $50,000 Hong Kong Jockey Club at Hastings on Friday.

With Mario Gutierrez aboard, Castinette Dancer broke sharply and then settled in along the rail just behind Overvalued and Queen’s Vicar, who dueled through honest fractions of 23.63 and 46.95 seconds in the mile and one-sixteenth feature.  Overvalued disposed of Queen’s Vicar and took a one-length lead into the stretch.  Castinette Dancer, however, was full of run while moving off the rail. She blew by Overvalued at the top of the stretch and then quickly drew off to win by 4 1/2 lengths. Overvalued held on to finish second over the late charging Tecolote.

Final time was 1:45.01.

“I didn’t want Overvalued to get away from me,” said Gutierrez. “I had a lot of horse the whole time and I just waited as long as I could.”

Trained by Troy Taylor, Castinette Dancer established herself as the local favorite for the $100,000 British Columbia Oaks on Sept. 11.
