Harriett Lane wins La Habra

ARCADIA, Calif. - Harriett Lane won her stakes debut in Sunday?s $109,450 for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita, extending her winning streak to 3.

Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Harriett Lane ($4.60) rallied from sixth to catch pacesetter Bettarun Fast in the final furlong and win by 1 1-4 lengths.

Bettarun Fast held second, finishing a length in front of Dance Daily, the winner of the Santa Ynez Stakes in January.

Harriett Lane finished about 6 1-2 furlongs on turf in 1:13.97.

Owned by Toby Keith and Susan Magnier and trained by Ted H. West, Harriett Lane has won 3 of 8 starts and $141,620. By Giant's Causeway, Harriett Lane needed six races to break her maiden, doing so in a one-mile turf race on Jan. 6. She followed that win with a victory in an optional claimer on the hillside course on Feb. 4.

West said that Harriett Lane would be stretched out to a mile or farther for her next start.

* El Mirage Queen ($34) won the Tapestry Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, outfinishing pacesetter Candy Jo. El Mirage Queen finished six furlongs in 1:09.45 in a race for 3-year-old fillies that have not won a graded stakes.
