WAUPACA finished second in this race the past two years, and has the tactical speed to sit a good tracking trip off what projects to be a swift pace. Although the beaten favorite in his last three starts, Waupaca stumbled at the break of his most recent appearance, and was left with too much to do when the real racing began on the final turn. He's worth a play at 10-1 on the track's morning line.
Former Darley runner SALIC LAW looks like an intriguing price play as he switches back to his preferred surface for the third start of the form cycle. He earned triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures on the lawn last year at Belmont, and is another that may sit just off the pace.
ERRONEOUS I D broke the Louisiana Downs track record at this distance when defeating Waupaca three weeks ago, but he had a perfect trip off a pace duel that day. He should get fast fractions to run at once again, but it will be interesting to see if he regresses off that career-best performance.
DONTBOTHERKNOCKING is the defending champion, and the late-runner faces a promising pace scenario on Saturday. The veteran enters in excellent form following a pair of stakes wins, and should be used in multi-race and exotic wagers.
WARRIOR SONG earned a big Beyer at Del Mar, and could be the speed of the speed. He has been plagued by layoff lines throughout his career, however, and may be overbet.
WE ALL LOVE ALEYNA is another making the important third start of the form cycle, and he certainly has the back class to contend in this spot.
