Bar Hopping, the only horse to beat Southwind Frank this year, readied himself for the Hambletonian with a 1:53 1/5 triumph in the $300,000 Dr. Harry M. Zweig Memorial for 3-year-old trotting colts on Sunday night at Vernon Downs.
Flowers N Songs, who won the C$174,329 S.B.O.A. Stakes earlier this year at Mohawk at odds of 23-1, pulled an 8-1 surprise on Sunday night at Vernon Downs when she won the $140,000 Harry M. Zweig Memorial for 3-year-old filly trotters in 1:53 4/5.
The undercard features on Zweig night at Vernon Downs were a pair of $60,200 New York Sire Stakes splits for 3-year-old pacing fillies, and the winners were No Clouds Bluechip and Dime A Dance.
North America Cup champion Betting Line captured his sixth straight victory in the second of two C$105,000 Gold Series divisions at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday evening.
