Southwind Frank literally stole the $500,000 Colonial on Saturday evening at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, but in the winner’s circle after the race you could see the win was a bit bittersweet.
The Nassagaweya and Eternal Camnation Stakes put 2-year-old pacers in the spotlight on Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack. Each event carried a total purse of C$211,000 and saw two divisions contested.
Darlinonthebeach dominated the $350,000 Valley Forge for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday night at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, opening up in the final quarter to win in 1:49 3/5.
There was a single $110,200 New York Sire Stakes contest for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday evening at Batavia Downs, and 6-5 favorite Robin J was up in the final stride to win in 1:56.
