Harness: Sharp Horses and Track Trends for October 6 to October 8

BALMORAL

10/8: 0w, + closers

JO JO SPUR -

Had post 9, made up a lot of ground through the middle-half while following cover third over, angled wide for the drive and wore down the 4/5 favorite gamely

 

HARRINGTON

10/8: 7w, + speed

10/7: 10w, +++ speed

10/6: 8w, ++ speed

MAJOR BUCKS -

Followed weak cover from post 7 and finished solidly for the show while racing against a strong inside speed bias

FILL MY POCKETS UP -

Was 7th at the half, followed weak cover third over, made a strong three wide charge around the final turn to take the lead and held on gamely

NO BAD LUCK*** -

Had post 7, followed cover third over, brushed three wide into and around the final turn and finished sharply for the show while racing against a severe inside speed bias

POSITIONED TO LEAD -

Had post 7, grinded into contention without cover and finished gamely for the place

 

HOOSIER

10/8: 0w, + closers

10/7: 2w, + closers, off track

IGRAINE -

10th early, rallied wide making up good ground on the final turn and finished sharply

 

NORTHFIELD

10/8: 11w, ++ speed

10/7: 7w, + speed, sloppy track

10/6: 7w, + speed

FIERCE DESIRE*** -

Had post 8, left weakly and was parked the mile, picked up cover down the back but raced off his cover, lost cover on the third turn, continued on his long grind making up a lot of ground through the middle-half, excusably weakened in a tough trip

MAJOR SPEED*** -

Pulled at the quarter and hustled up making up a lot of ground to reach the 2-5 winner at the half, ducked in late on the third turn, pulled the pocket at the three quarters and finished gamely to be clearly second best to the sharp winner

JEN ROCK'S -

Was third over from post 6, stormed four wide on the final turn and finished gamely to just miss to the bias-aided 4/5 winner in a game placing

 

PHILADELPHIA

THE MEADOWS

FLIRTIN*** -

8th early behind a modest pace, followed poor cover 4th over and finished fast

PONDEROSITO -

Had post 8, was third over and finished well

10/8: 4w, + speed, 5 pocket winners

10/7: 7w, + speed

LYONS JOSEPHJNR*** -

Quarter-moved and got strung out on a long first over bid, battled the pacesetter through lively fractions and was a game second

HE ROCKS THE MOON*** -

Quarter-moved and was hung out in a tough first over grind pushing a quick pace, held well to be second best behind the sharp 4/5 winner

 

MONTICELLO

10/8: 7w, + speed

10/7: 3w, no bias

10/6: 5w, + speed

PURPLE N GOLD -

Went first over into a stepped-up final half, held well for the show in an improved effort

BURLESQUE -

Left from post 6 and was used hard to clear past the quarter, set a lively pace under pressure, shook clear into the lane and held by a comfortable margin

WHERE'S WALDO -

Followed cover from post 8 and finished willingly from a tough spot

JIMMY RIP*** -

Left from post 5 and was used hard to clear past the quarter, set a fast pace under heavy pressure and held well considering

ONE SHARK ROAD*** -

Left hard from the rail, yielded, pulled the pocket and tried to retake but was rebuffed, dueled for the lead and didn't tire that badly

 

YONKERS

10/7: 8w, ++ speed

10/6: 5w, + speed

SUGAR QUEEN GABBY -

Trotter had post 8, followed cover and finished strongly for the place

CITY HALL*** -

Had post 6, followed cover third over but was shuffled when the flow slowed down at the three quarters, angled wide for the drive and finished quickly for the show

WHOLLY LOUY -

Classy 10-year-old left and tucked on the first turn, rushed up approaching the half attacked the even money favorite ferociously, took the lead down the back and held on

BUBBIE BOY -

Had post 9, pulled out midway on the final turn, stacked wide for the drive and was flying late

KIWI IDEAL N -

Had post 8, followed cover third over, angled 5 wide turning for home and finished strongly to get up

MCSHORTY -

Left from post 6 and tucked third, moved out on the final turn, angled wide in the lane and finished well

DANISHDUJOUR*** -

Was 6th at the half and stuck behind gapping cover, began to edge three wide late on turn three, burst wide down the back, cleared to be second over, moved three wide again mid-final turn and finished gamely to get up in a big effort

ON THE BRINK*** -

Made two moves to the lead in :26 4/5, set a quick pace under heavy pressure and gave way grudgingly late

MACH TO THE MAX -

Rushed up first over and got into a battle with the pacesetter through a :27 third quarter, kept on chugging to wear that one down in the lane then dug in to hold off the closers
