World-champion Sebastian K has been forced to retire due to ligament damage. The fastest trotter in history with a mark of 1:49 retires with career earnings of $2,973,252. Below is a brief release from Sebastian K's owners, Knutsson Trotting Inc.

Gothenburg, Sweden --- It is with a heavy heart that Michael and I have to announce the forced retirement of Sebastian K from racing.

Two separate ultrasound examinations have confirmed a significant tear in the left hind suspensory ligament. Although it is impossible to determine the exact cause of the injury, his last race was most certainly a truly valiant effort, all things considered.

We are immensely proud of the privilege to own Sebastian K and he has given us so much joy over the years.

We are also very thankful to the North American harness racing fans who have taken "Seabass" to their hearts and voted his all-age world record mile of 1:49 at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono on June 28, 2014 as the Racing Moment of the Year. That means a lot to us and we are sincerely grateful for this award.

Sebastian K finished his career with a record of 77-34-15-2 and lifetime earnings of $2,973,252. He retires as the fastest trotter of all time.
