Harness Racing: Sharp Horses and Track Trends for Feb. 18-20, 2013

Email

BALMORAL

2/20: 2w, + closers

MONTICELLO

2/20: 6w, + speed, off track, windy

2/19: 6w, + speed, off track

HAROUN HANOVER*** - Worked his way to the lead from post 7 and wired the field handily

DOVER

2/20: 9w, ++ speed, windy conditions

2/19: 6w, + speed

2/18: 4w, no bias

LORRIE PLEASE*** - Left from post 8 and was used hard to get the lead before the half, set a fast pace under pressure and gave way grudgingly to the pocket winner late

RACING NAKED - Left, tucked, went first over and held gamely for the place

NORTHFIELD

2/20: 7w, + speed

2/19: 3w, no bias, off track

2/18: 5w, no bias

YETTY - Left from post 8 and was three deep and parked out, excusably tired

JESS COY - Had a tough trip parked-the-mile from post 7 and held okay

THE MEADOWS

2/19: 2w, no bias

NICKIE K - Trotting mare had post 8 and left directly outside of the post 7 leaver, was parked to the half, took the lead, yielded to pressure turning for home but held okay

DO ME HONOR - Left from post 9 and was used hard to clear in :26 3/5, set the pace and held the show

POMPANO

2/20: 4w, no bias

2/19: 2w, no bias

2/18: 4w, no bias

JOHANSSON*** - Power-brushed to the lead at the half and drew off impressively

FREEHOLD

2/18: 7w, + speed

ON THE TAB - Trotter was parked the mile without cover from post 7 and held well

YONKERS

2/19: 7w, + speed, sloppy track

2/18: 7w, + speed, all of the wire to wire winners were favorites and two horses did win from second over, so this could be somewhat of a false speed bias

PRINT IT - Third over behind weak cover, finished strongly for the place

SALEVSTER STALLION - Had post 7 and got moving early then stuck behind terrible cover, had to go three wide at the half then picked up new but more dull cover and had no realistic chance here; solid $30,000 claimer has some zip but probably needs one of the best posts, 1 through 5

DAVID ON ICE - Had post 8 in a poor flow, made a sharp wide move gaining 7 lengths around the final turn and flattened out in the drive; dangerous from a better post

*** = extra-sharp preferred plays
