According to reports on multiple sites, former Horse of the Year Rocknroll Hanover was euthanized on Thursday at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center. The career earner of $2,754,038 suffered an irreversible gastric impaction according to Harness Racing Update. Rocknroll Hanover was named 2005 Horse of the Year by the United States Harness Writers Association and has sired such greats as Rock N Roll Heaven ($2,748,818), who received the same honor in 2010, and 2012 standout 3-year-old A Rocknroll Dance. Owned by Perretti Racing Stable, Jeffrey Snyder and Lothlorien Equestrian Centre, Rocknroll Hanover was the leading money winning sire in 2012 with his prodigy earning over $17 million. On the track, Rocknroll Hanover collected the trophies for the Metro Pace, North America Cup, Meadowlands Pace and Breeders Crown during his career. The 11-year-old was standing stud in Pennsylvania for Perretti Farms.
