The 2017 London Selected Yearling Sale at the Western Fair District Metroland Media Agriplex in London, Ontario, was held over the weekend, with Mohawk Seelster bringing C$220,000 during today's second session to top the sale. The London Selected Yearling Sale was held for the first time in 2017 and came about after Standardbred Canada, who previously hosted the Canadian Yearling Sale, and the Forest City Yearling Sale joined forces to create it.  Mohawk Seelster, a Sportswriter colt, was HIP 192 and was purchased by Millar Farms.  Mohawk Seelster is out of the McArdle mare Macapelo Rose, making him a half-brother to Mayhem Seelster (Mach Three, C$392,395).  Mayhem Seelster, who was a multi-time winner in Ontario Sires Stakes competition at two and three and was third to Pure Country in the 2015 Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Filly Pace at Woodbine, is now part of the broodmare band at Hanover Shoe Farms. Three other yearlings made it into six figures during the two days.  Yesterday it was Silas Seelster, a Shadow Play colt, going to Dr. Ian Moore for C$150,000, and Moore also purchased Spade Seelster, a Sunshine Beach filly, for C$115,000 on Sunday afternoon.  Rounding out the list was Bettor's Delight filly Piper Seelster, who went to agent Brad Maxwell for exactly C$100,000. In all 306 yearlings went through the sales ring for a total of C$7,536,000 and an average of C$24,627.
