The first session of the two-day Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale was staged on Friday afternoon at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, and Rockin Image filly Rockinbythebeach headed the bidding, fetching $93,000. Rockinbythebeach, purchased by Tim Ottesen from the consignment of Swiss Boarding Farms LLC., is the first foal out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Antigua Hanover ($242,853).  Antigua Hanover is also a half-sister to Appleoosa Hanover (Western Hanover, $468,725). A pair of yearlings by Swan For All rounded out the top three.  Swans Miss Muffet, a filly, went to Byron Hooley for $87,000, and Amplifier, a colt, went to agent Erv Miller for $82,000.  Swans Miss Muffet, consigned by agent In Law Stables, is the first foal out of the Earl Of Stormont mare Earls Miss Muffet ($332,882), and Amplifier, who sold from the Double R Farm consignment, is out of the Yankee Glide mare Ladylike Volo, making him a full brother to multi-time Indiana Sires Stakes winner Airman Batten ($342,133). In all there were 182 yearlings sold for an average of $20,610.  This marks a 30.6% increase over the first day of last year's Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale when 182 head fetched an average of $15,783.
