Haradasun retired after Ascot win

Haradasun, winner of the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, has been retired to Coolmore Australia for the 2008 breeding season, the global breeding operation announced Tuesday.

The 4-year-old son of Coolmore stallion Fusaichi Pegasus will stand for $51,700.

Irish-based Coolmore bought a controlling interest in Haradasun at the end of last season. The colt was named Australia's champion 3-year-old in 2007 after winning that nation's Doncaster Handicap and George Ryder Stakes, both Group 1, as well as the ungraded Zeditave and Wellington Racing Club Stakes. He placed in seven other stakes in 2007, including a second in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes and thirds in the Cox Plate and Turnbull Stakes, also Group 1.

Haradasun retires with six wins in 16 starts and earnings of $1,955,942.

He is out of the 1995 Australia Oaks winner Circles of Gold, making him a half-brother to Australian champion Elvstroem and Group 2 winner Hveger.
